Brief description

Due to their high prevalence, the widespread diseases caries and periodontitis not only occupy a leading position in health economic relevance. Oral health is also closely linked to the health of the entire organism (e.g. bacterial risk in existing periodontal diseases). Thus, dental studies of health services research can contribute to the promotion of general health and quality of life.
Die Fachgruppe hat sich deshalb zum Ziel gesetzt, Kompetenzen in der Zahnmedizin im Bereich der Versorgungsforschung zu bündeln, den Bedarf an Forschungsprojekten auf dem Gebiet der Zahnmedizin zu verdeutlichen und forschungsrelevante Studien zu initiieren und durchzuführen.
Durch die Interdisziplinarität des Netzwerkes eröffnen sich Möglichkeiten der fachübergreifenden Diskussionen versorgungsforschungsrelevanter Inhalte und der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit zwischen klinischen, sozialwissenschaftlichen und methodischen wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaften und Organisationen der Versorgungspraxis. Eine Integration zahnmedizinischer Belange in die Medizin kann und soll damit weiterhin unterstützt werden.

The FG has therefore set itself the goal of joining competences in dentistry in the area of health care research, emphasizing the need for research projects in the field of dentistry and initiating and conducting research-relevant studies.
The interdisciplinary nature of the network opens up opportunities for interdisciplinary discussions of health care research-relevant content and interdisciplinary cooperation between clinical, social science and methodological scientific societies and organisations devoted to health care practice. The integration of dental issues into medicine can and should thus be further supported.
